My top tier ends with Prince Fielder and I don’t have a lot to say about those top five guys other than the fact that I think Pujols is the number one player on my list when I am looking at overall rankings and Miguel Cabrera scares the crap out of me because I am just not sure who the Tigers have around him that will be able to protect him. I know if I was an opposing manager I wouldn’t pitch to him. Justin Morneau is a big injury concern with his wrist still a question mark at this point. I like Kendry Morales a lot, but have concerns that last season’s big average may have been a career year rather than a new baseline for him. Carlos Pena is the last guy I would want as my starting 1B in any Roto league thanks to his .220-.250 batting average, but that home run power in a head to head point’s league makes him a huge value on draft day. You got to love the “Kung Fu Panda” Pablo Sandoval. He will hit for a high average, lots of doubles, but will still lack the power that is needed to be a top end first baseman. I like him a lot more at third base. I feel the same way about Billy Butler, but love what he does on the diamond and am watching to see if all those doubles can develop into a HR swing. Chris Davis is my sleeper for this season after missing on him last year, many fantasy players may decide to pass on him and make him a valuable pick up with much better draft value this season than last.
